The Chromy Awards have been established by The Conscience Institute, Luxemburg. They are based on the lifetime work and beliefs of the artist Anna Chromy as documented in Chromology. Her masterpiece the Cloak of Conscience is mirrored in the Trophy of the Award.

The motto of the Chromys is “One Step Forward for Humanity”, expressing the belief that we have to apply new, unconventional, ideas and actions to lead humanity out of the present deadlock. Empathy, Harmony, Sustainability are some of the buzz-words for this new era. Winners of the Awards will be those who have shown the way.

The Winners of the Chromys are honored in an annual Awards Ceremony at a prestigious location, in the presence of the international media. The first Gala will take place in early 2013 in Paris.

List of Problems Facing Humanity

We have tried to condense the range of huge challenges facing humanity into twelve groups. Together with the paintings in Chromology, they will give you a good idea where to look for Nominees for this year’s Chromy Awards.

1. Climate Change and Global Warming , created through Pollution by Man
2. Lack of Global Governance and to much influence of Corporations and Financial Institutions
3. Overblown Consumption of non renewable resources and management of Waste
4. Growth of World Population and corresponding diminution of Biodiversity
5. Growth of non sustainable Energy use (Oil, Gas, Shale, Nuclear)
6. Inequality in Income and Food distribution, Health and Education
7. Scarcity and inequality of pure Water supply
8. Lack of long-term perspective in government, corporations and individuals
9. Shortcomings in Education and Spiritual guidance
10. Bad Land management, Agricultural development and the Food Industry
11. Armed Conflicts, Arms Trade, Nuclear Threat
12. Sectarianism, Racism, Intolerance, Cruelty towards Children and Animals.
