Athletes Test the Balance of Olympic Spirit
Anna Chromy was shocked when she saw the photo: "We have not tested it for the extra weight at that point. The sculpture is very finely tuned and balances on a single foot". Matthew Mitcham's followers expressed their concern too when he published the photo on Twitter. "Please don't take such risks", said one, and "You're an adorable fool" said another. Fortunately for both artist and athlete, Mitcham returned to earth unscathed and both photo and sculpture remain for posterity.
